Swindon Town has confirmed the resignation of manager John Sheridan from the League One club after only five months in charge.

The former Chesterfield manager joined Swindon back in November after a spell with Wigan Athletic but failed to bring the Robins to the top. The League One had been struggling the past few weeks having lost 9 of their last 11 games, leaving them seven points behind from safety. It was following Saturday’s 4-1 defeat by AFC Wimbledon that Sheridan told of his decision to resign from the club. During his short time with the club, Swindon won only 8 of the 31 games in which he was in charge.

Assistant Tom Wright will be taking over Sheridan’s responsibilities as manager for the rest of the season.
