Just days after agreeing to join Margate, the former Billericay Town midfielder has signed for the higher division National League South club Tonbridge Angels.

34-year-old Loft was set to join Margate boss Jay Saunders’s side in the Isthmian League Premier Division but will now move to Steve McKimm’s side, leaving the Gate utterly disappointed.

Loft arrives at Longmead with a wealth of experience having played for formidable clubs such as Shrewsbury Town, Colchester United, Gillingham, and Brighton and Hove Albion. He was appointed the captain of the Port Vale squad in 2012 and made 196 appearances and netted 19 goals for the club in five seasons. He was part of the squad that helped The Valiants achieve promotion to League 1 in 2013.
