Hartlepool midfielder Martin Woods will once again be returning to The Shay Stadium as he signs a one-year deal that will keep him with the Shaymen for the upcoming season.

Woods, 35, first joined Halifax last season after spending a full season away from football. During his time with the Shaymen, he made 39 appearances and netted 4 goals for the National League club.

Woods started his career at the Leeds United youth academy. During his time with the Peacocks, he spent a loan spell with Hartlepool United in 2004 where he made his professional debut in a 3–2 defeat away against Oldham Athletic. Woods offers Halifax his experience of playing for Sunderland, Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers, Barnsley, Ross County, Shrewsbury Town, Patrick Thistle, and Dundee.
