Gateshead FC has welcomed to their squad the newest arrival to the Gateshead International Stadium Owen Bailey. The former Newcastle youngster signs for the National League North side on a one-year deal after spending time on trial.

The 22-year-old has previously captained the Magpies’ Under-23 side to the 2019 Premier League 2 Division Two play-off final and the Premier League Cup final. Bailey played his final few minutes for the Magpies in the 1-0 defeat against Swansea City on September 30th 2019 before he was sidelined for 538 days due to a serious knee injury.

Bailey returned to action in the 86th minute of Newcastle United’s clash against Norwich City in March 2021 where he scored a dramatic last-minute goal that secured the win for his team. Despite his efforts, this was not enough to secure Bailey’s place in the Magpies’ squad.
