After a pitch inspection this morning at 9 AM, the pitch at Alfreton Town was deemed unplayable by the referee due to the weather. This waterlogged pitch means that yet again another Vanarama National League North fixture has been called off as York City will not be facing Alfreton Town on the field today. The announcement was made via Twitter on Alfreton Town’s official Twitter handle.

The clash between the two clubs was one of the only two National League North matches scheduled for the weekend that were not postponed. The second fixture being Brackley Town F.C’s match against Chorley F.C, scheduled to take place today at St. James Park Brackley. This leaves only one National League North fixture to take place over this weekend because several clubs have refused to fulfil their scheduled fixtures over their demand of a fully-funded Covid testing programme to be in place to guarantee the safety of their players. The league has yet to respond to these demands of the clubs.

Alfreton Town seems very disappointed at the postponement of their match as they hoped to commence the season after the two-week suspension of the National League North and National League South fixtures. Unfortunately, Alfreton Town Football Club Impact Arena Stadium will not be hosting any Vanarama National League North fixture until Wednesday when The Reds will face off against toppers of the leaderboard, Gloucester City.
