Notts County assistant manager sacked following ‘unacceptable' comment to player

Recently appointed Notts County assistant manager Maurice Ross has been sacked after accusations of making a racially insensitive remark about one of his players.
Following his departure from Motherwell as their first-team coach, the former Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday defender was appointed in March earlier this year. After only 5 months into the job, he left the National League club on Monday.
The 40-year-old has apologised for his insensitive remark in a statement. “While it was said in the heat of the moment with no malice intended, it was nevertheless unacceptable and I'm devastated by the impact it's caused."
Notts County captain Michael Doyle will be taking over Ross’s responsibilities for the rest of the current season.
