Altrincham FC says goodbye to Tommy

Altrincham bade farewell not only to another season yesterday but sadly to Tommy Uda as well after the popular sports therapist announced he was stepping down to pursue a new objective in his chosen field.

For the past four years, Tommy's renowned expertise in assessing and treating injuries has kept the disruption caused by fitness problems to a minimum and established him as a key component of a backroom team integral to the Alty success story under manager Phil Parkinson.

But after working so successfully in tandem with sports scientist and therapist Ryan Murray and strength and conditioning coach Ryan Spencer in a top-class Alty medical team, he is leaving The J.Davidson Stadium to further his education in his particular branch of medicine.

Writing on his Facebook page on Friday, Tommy said: 'So.. I am sad to report that after tomorrow’s game (against Torquay United), I will be leaving Altrincham FC. It is time for me to step down from my role after 4 amazing years to study a full-time Masters Degree in Physiotherapy at Keele University.

'It is now the right time for me to leave Altrincham and return to education in order to fulfil my personal objectives, dreams and aspirations. I will be available occasionally to help and support the Medical team when needed but my journey at this club has come to an end.

'My time at Altrincham has been incredible, I have enjoyed every minute, highs and lows. I feel honoured to have been part of the Alty resurrection over the last 4 years and I am very confident this club will continue to develop under this management team and board.

'I would like to thank everyone associated with the club; players past and present, staff, Board of Directors, the amazing Alty faithful, my colleagues in the Sport Science & Medicine department and the best management team in Non-League for making my time at Alty so enjoyable and rewarding.

'I will always support Altrincham FC and I will be closely following their results, all the very best for future. Source: John Edwards and Altrincham FC
