Torquay United winger Ben Whitfield departs

Torquay United fans will be disappointed to hear that the National League club’s 25-year-old winger will not be returning to Plainmoor next season as he departs the club.
Manager Gary Johnson expressed his disappointment in an interview over Whitfield’s departure who joins National League rivals Stockport County. He follows Kyle Cameron who also joined a rival club after departing Torquay when he joined Notts County.
Whitfield also joins Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Covolan who also departed the Gulls earlier this month and has joined League Two side Port Vale.
