Basford United Captain Matt Thornhill Discharged From Hospital

Northern Premier League Premier Division club Basford United have confirmed the release of their captain Matt Thornhill from the hospital after he incurred a head injury.
The former Gainsborough Trinity skipper was floored to the ground on Monday as he collided with Grantham Town player James Williamson during the 1-1 draw against the Gingerbreads at South Kesteven Stadium. The 32-year-old was taken to a local hospital following the injury to his head where he received stitches.
According to Basford, Thornhill did not show any signs of any concussion and has passed all relevant tests. Unfortunately, this means that one more player has been added to Basford’s injured list as Thornhill joins Callum Chettle and Stef Galinsk on the sidelines for now.
The club will assess when Thornhill can return to action soon.
