National League Club Placed Under Embargo

Southend United have announced that they have been placed under embargo by the National League because of debts that piled up due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the club has stated that they do not expect the embargo to keep them from making signings if and when new players are identified. The club is currently working to finalise the terms of a time to pay agreement with HMRC in relation to their debt that accrued due to the pandemic. The National League club has been given some time by the HMRC to pay their dues and they hope to conclude their discussions with them soon. Southend United lost their place in the EFL last season and currently sit at number 19 on the league table.
