North Leigh bring in two new players

Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central club North Leigh have added midfielder Aaron Heap and winger Jamal Branker to their squad.

Heap returns to the Millers for a second spell from Southern Premier Division side Banbury United, who he signed for from them in August.

The 20-year-old began his career in the junior sides at Southern Division One Central side Kidlington and he was also a part of the Oxford United academy, completing his scholarship with the latter and then being rewarded in the summer of 2018 with a professional contract.

He made two appearances for Oxford in the EFL Trophy in 2018/19 and was a regular in their under-23 side that season.

He initially joined North Leigh on loan in October 2019, a move made permanent when he was released by Oxford in January 2020.

Although born in Oxfordshire, he is eligible to play for both Northern Ireland and Wales and has played for the former at under-19 level and has also been called up to the Welsh under-21 squad for training.

Branker is a 25-year-old who moves to North Leigh from Southern Division One South side Thatcham Town.

He signed for the Kingfishers in September 2020 after returning to the area.

He joined North West Counties League side Wythenshawe Town in the summer of 2019.

A former Southampton academy graduate, he has also been with Marlow, Slough Town, Frome Town, AFC Totton and Hyde United. Source: Steve Whitney and Pitching In
