Chesterfield star player off the playing field for possibly more than 10 weeks.

Lead scorer for the Spireites, Tom Denton is going to have to sit several fixtures out for the next ten weeks due to a knee injury. He picked up this injury in early December during Chesterfield’s clash against Sutton United. This comes as a severe hit to the club since Denton has been one of the strongest assets to the club. Denton has managed to score nine goals for the club this season making him one of the top goal-scorers for the team which are often rare to find.
The 31-year-old forward player is going to have to undergo surgery for his knee injury. His knee has been affecting his gameplay and health for quite some time now. His surgery is scheduled for Tuesday following which Denton will have to stay off the field for at least ten weeks. In the unfortunate case that any complications arise we could possibly be looking at more than that.
Chesterfield manager, James Rowe took to the club’s website to praise Denton’s form before the injury. He mentioned how disheartened both the club and the player himself are over the news of his injury. He stated that he considers injuries as a part of the game and that they are hoping for the best that Denton recovers quickly in ten weeks and not more. The club hopes to see their star player back in action soon.
With Tom Denton and Nathan Tyson out due to injury, Luke Rawson out on loan, and Scott Boden out of contract there are very few strikers left for the Spireites on the field. This brings us to question whether a new striker will be introduced by the club onto the field. When asked about this prospect, Rowe felt that it not to be an appropriate time to bring in another player at this moment especially with all the uncertainty around the National League at this time.
