Biggleswade F.C moves to The Eyrie in Cardington

Biggleswade looks to change things up as they make the move from Carlsberg Stadium to the The Eyrie in Cardington, a village on the outskirts of Bedford. The decision to transfer was made after their agreement not to continue sharing the Carlsberg with their Southern Premier Division Central neighbours Biggleswade Town. However, the move is yet to be approved by the Southern League.

Delighted to be hosting them at The Eyrie are their competitors in the Pitching In Southern Football League Division One Central, Bedford Town with whom they will share the ground for all matches starting from July 2021. Biggleswade looks to find a new ground of their own for them to play but until then this temporary partnership with Bedford Town will help them lay their foundation as they progress. Bedford Town is pleased to welcome this newfound partnership and is willing to share their home whilst the club makes the base for their future in the leagues.

This newfound ground-sharing agreement between the Eagles and the Greens will have the Eyrie bursting at the seams. Also joining the two clubs at The Eyrie are the Bedford Ladies who will play their Sunday matches as scheduled. The Eyrie will be hosting more games every week than before because both Bedford and Biggleswade are playing Step 4 football. However, it is naturally appropriate that Bedford will be given priority when it comes to cup fixtures. As for midweek games, Bedford’s midweek matches will take place on the usual Tuesday evening while Biggleswade’s games will take place on Wednesdays.

When asked for a comment on the decision to share the ground with Biggleswade, director of Bedford Town said that this partnership will make better use of their facilities and bring more matches for the local fans to take joy in. He also said that their ground will be the sight of a football match every Saturday.

Chairman for Biggleswade, Jeremy Reynolds expressed his gratitude towards Bedford for their assistance and said that he hopes to see one of their own grounds in the near future.  Source: https://southern-football-league.co.uk/news/127355/-Biggleswade-Find-a-New-Home
