South Shields decide to go full time!

South Shields will be going full-time next season.
The Mariners have been using a hybrid model over the past couple of seasons, which sees a maximum of two evening training sessions for the whole squad, with at least two additional day sessions for the players who are able to attend.
Now, though, Shields have announced that they will be full-time ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
The club had the possibility of reaching the National League North taken away from them last year, with the Northern Premier Division campaign declared null and void when Shields were 12 points clear after 33 matches, with some teams having games in hand.
With the current season going the same way for the division, the South Tynesiders are determined to finally reach Step 2 next year. Manager Graham Fenton told the club’s website:
“This is a hugely exciting moment for the club and for us as a management team, as it gives us so much more scope to improve standards on and off the pitch. Operating in a hybrid structure for the last two seasons has been a major learning curve for us, and although it had its real benefits, we always knew it would also present some challenges which could only be overcome by eventually progressing to a full-time model.
“This gives us the chance to be more flexible with the training schedule, and we will be able to get the balance between training and rest better in the lead-up to games.” Source: nonleaguedaily.com
