Gloucester City’s Clash Against York City To Be A Historic Occasion

Saturday’s home match against York City will be a historic occasion for Gloucester City as this will be the first time in fourteen years that the Tigers will play in front of fans in Gloucester.
Following flooding and sewage contamination in 2007, the Tigers were forced to leave Meadow Park – their home ground since 1986. Since then, Gloucester City have shared grounds with multiple clubs including Forest Green Rovers, Cirencester Town, and even rivals Cheltenham Town while they tried to find a new permanent location.
After facing several obstacles in their attempt to relocate, the club finally started work on New Meadow Park, which is built on the site of the old Meadow Park, in January 2020.
Gloucester played their first game at their new home in October 2020 behind closed doors but Saturday’s clash will be the first time they play in front of fans at New Meadow Park.
