National League North side Blyth Spartans have announced the addition of ex-Carlisle United goalkeeper Alex Mitchell to their squad ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 30-year-old stopper, who started off his career at Carlisle United, becomes the Spartans’ sixteenth signing of the summer. He was part of the squad that defeated Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup in 2007/08 with the Blues.

Mitchell brings a wealth of experience and a number of games under his belt to Croft Park having played for Gretna and Queen of the South,  Workington Reds, and Annan Athletic, with whom he racked up over 160 appearances.
