Tiverton Town v Torquay United
Tiverton Town took on National league side Torquay United at the Ian Moorcroft Stadium In their second from last pre - season friendly. With better luck at the tail end of last season and Torquay would have been back In the football league so this was always going to be a tough game for Tivvy. But it was the home side who had the early chances and on five minutes Dan Hayfield shot from distance but was wide of the goal. On nineteen minutes Tivvy got the goal their pressure deserved when Gabby Rogers cut inside from the wing and smashed the ball into the top corner of the Torquay net. Torquay seemed to step up a gear and had several chances to score and In the thirty eighth minute trailist B scored with a cracker of a shot that flew into the Tivvy net to make the score 1-1.
On forty four minutes Lewis Williams In the Tivvy goal brought down the Torquay forward and the referee quite rightly awarded a penalty that the visitors dispatched with ease to make the half time score 2-1 to Torquay. The second half saw several changes for both teams which upset the flow of the game but there were still chances at both ends In a very entertaining game. On seventy one minutes Danny Wright tapped home from close range to seal the victory for the visitors.
