Tiverton Town took their first step on the road to Wembley with a 2-0 win at Salisbury In the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round.Both teams had early chances but neither really made the keepers work. On 31 minutes Salisbury player Blair was through on goal but was denied by a great stop from Lewis Williams in the Tivvy goal. 5 minutes later Blair was shown a straight red card for a bad foul on Tivvys Aaron Dawson reducing the home side to 10 players for the rest of the game. For the rest of the first half Tiverton were having most of the ball but they could not break down the home defence and the half finished 0-0.
The second half was only 2 minutes old when a penalty appeal from the Salisbury players and fans was waved away by the referee. Salisbury seemed to be playing better with 10 players and had a couple of chances to take the lead. On 66 minutes Tivvys Joe Belsten let fly with a great volley which was brilliantly saved by Beauchamp In the Salisbury goal. With 8 minutes remaining and a replay looking on the cards Tiverton broke the deadlock. Joe Belsten put In a great cross which was slotted home by Tivvys number 9 Matt Wright. 5 minutes later and it was 2-0. A Dan Hayfield corner was headed In by Olaf Koszela to book Tiverton a place In the 2nd Qualifying Round Draw on Monday.
