FA Cup Preliminary Round Report


Exmouth Town took on Southern League South Division One side Bristol Manor Farm in what was always going to be a hard game against a team from a higher league. Bristol took only a minute to take the lead when a thirty yard free kick found the bottom corner of the net. It only took Exmouth four minutes to equalise when Aarron Deny pounced to make it 1-1. On thirty one minutes Bristol had a player sent off and twenty minutes later Ben Steer scored the winner for Exmouth to put them in the hat for Mondays draw.
Willand Rovers and Millbrook played out a exciting 3-3 draw. Glenn Gould put Rovers in the lead in the thirteenth minute but a mix up in the home defence allowed the visitors to equalise. On sixty seven minutes a Jack Rice header restored Rovers lead.But it only lasted two minutes as Millbrook equalised for the second time. Ten minutes later a Will Richard's volley put Rovers 3-2 up and heading for the next round but in the last minute of normal time Millbrook scored direct from a corner to send the game to a replay.
The North Devon derby between Bideford and Barnstaple Town was always going to be a close game and the first half had few chances .But on eighty minutes the game sprung to life when Lee Hildreth put Barnstaple 1-0 in front. Further goals from Tornado and Ofori put the visitors 3-0 up. Bideford scored a late consolation goal to make the final score Bideford 1 Barnstaple Town 3 Plymouth Parkway were 3-1 winners at Mousehole. The home side took the lead in the first minute but goals from Tom Bath, Matt Andrew and a River Allen penalty sealed the win for Plymouth. Other local cup results saw Bridgwater United beat Ilfracombe Town 3-0 Mangotsfield beat Tavistock 3-0 and Shepton Mallett won 1-0 at Melksham Town.
