Tiverton Town 3 Met Police 2

Tiverton Town got this game underway against a  Met Police team who like Tivvy had started the season with some indifferent results. The first real chance of the game on ten minutes fell to   Met Police Striker Daniel Carr who  burst through the Tivvy defence but his shot went high and wide of its target. Met's number seven Oliver Knight  had two opportunities in the space of two minutes to open the scoring but both times his shot went wide of the Tivvy goal. The first goal of the game came on seventeen minutes when a good Tivvy  passing move found Alfie Moulden in the Met box and he cooly finished to put Tiverton 1-0 up. Five minutes later and Tiverton scored again this time Josh Jones was on hand to poke the ball home to make it 2-0. Tiverton were in total control of the game until Lewis Williams came out of his goal to stop a Met attack and he was adjudged to have fouled their striker and the referee deemed it worth a straight red card and a penalty to the visitors. Tivvy had to take Alfie Moulden off and replace him with Tiverton under 18s goalkeeper Ollie Saunders. Ollie's first job was to face the spot kick. The kick was taken by Thomas Read who sent the young Tivvy keeper the wrong way to make it 2-1.
Met Police fancied their chances of getting back on level terms against ten man Tiverton  but the yellows held firm to end the half 2-1 in front. Met Police kicked the second half off and straight from the start they made use of the extra man and were playing the ball around well. Tiverton made a double change in a bid to cope with the Met pressure with Tom Purrington and Craig Woodman replacing Louis Morison and Dylan Jones. Met Police were still seeing more of the ball but they hadn't really tested Ollie Saunders in the Tivvy goal. Met Police made a change of their own with Archy Taylor replacing William Wickham and it nearly paid off when their next attack ended with the ball going inches wide of the Tivvy goal. Jordan Lam was booked for a foul as he stopped a Met police breakaway. The resulting free kick was sent into the Tiverton box and found the Met striker who's shot was brilliantly saved by Saunders who dived low to his right to save the ball and  to keep Tivvy infront.
Met Police made a double change as they went looking for a equaliser with time running out. But it was ten man Tivvy that were playing the better football and Tom Purrington went close but his shot was  deflected out for a corner. The ball was floated into the box and found its way to Matt Buchan who smashed the ball past Liam Beach in the Met goal to put Tiverton 3-1 up. With ten minutes left on the clock a long range effort from Jasper Mather squeezed past the diving hands of Ollie  Saunders to make the score 3-2 and set up a tense final ten minutes. With just seven minutes left a Met Police free kick was sent into the Tivvy box and looked a dead cert goal until a goalline clearance by a combination of Josh Jones and Ollie Saunders got the ball away. A minute later and Saunders was on hand to pull off another smart save to keep Tivvy infront. Met Police continued to push forward but ten man Tiverton stood strong and got a very deserved win.
