Dorchester Town 1 Tiverton Town 2

Tiverton made the short trip to the Avenue Stadium to take on Dorchester Town in a Southern League Premier Division South tie. Tiverton got the game underway but it was the home side that dominated most of the first half. A early corner was punched clear by Tivvy keeper Lewis Williams but the ball fell to the feet of a Dorchester player who smacked it straight back towards the goal where Williams knocked the ball onto the post and the defence cleared it up field but Dorchester very quickly got the ball back into the Tivvy half and Alex Moyse went close to giving Dorchester the lead but his shot went just wide of the Tivvy goal. Next it was the turn of Alfie Stanley to attack the Tivvy goal and his long range effort wasn't to far from its intended target. The home side were having more of the play but neither keeper was really being tested until ex Tivvy player Olaf Koszela went on a run down the line and cut into the Tiverton box his curling shot was saved by the legs of Lewis Williams but the ball rebounded out to a Dorchester forward who smashed the ball high and wide when it looked a odds on goal. Again Dorchester went on the attack but this time a great saving tackle from Josh Jones saved the day for Tiverton. On a rare Tivvy breakaway Dylan Jones found himself in a bit of space but his shot went wide of the Dorchester goal. Dorchester were then awarded a free kick after Matt Britton fouled Olaf Koszela ten yards outside of the Tivvy box in a central position. The resulting kick beat the wall and Williams in the Tivvy goal but the ball struck the post and was quickly smacked up field to safety where it was picked up by Matt Buchan who passed to Jordan Lam who was making his last appearance for Tiverton Town and would have loved to Mark his farewell with a goal but his shot went just wide of the goal. This proved to be the last chance of the half and the teams went in level at halftime 0-0.
Tiverton started the second half on the front foot and when Tom Purrington was fouled just outside the Dorchester box Louis Morison took the free kick but a save from Harrison Lee in the Dorchester goal resulted in a Tivvy corner. The corner was floated into the Dorchester box where it was met by the head of Jamie Richards who saw his header hit the crossbar the ball rebounded out to Matt Buchan who slotted the ball past Lee to put Tiverton 1-0 up.
Dorchester made a change as they went looking for the equaliser with Matthew Neale replacing Keith Emmerson. On sixty three minutes a great Tivvy move down the line found Joe Oloughlin in a shooting position and his shot was saved by Lee but he spilt the ball and Jamie Richards was on hand to put Tivvy 2-0 up. Dorchester looked stunned and made more changes in a bid to get back in the game and on seventy seven minutes a great Dorchester move down the line and low cross into the Tivvy box which Williams got a hand to but couldn't stop the ball from finding Matthew Neale who made it 2-1.
Tiverton made a change as they tried to hold on to their lead with Craig Woodman replacing Louis Morison. Dorchester had several chances which the Tivvy defence dealt with well and with time running out Lucas Vowles came on for a injured Matt Buchan. The Dorchester player felt it was his responsibility to pick Buchan up off the ground which the Tivvy player didn't like and they squared up to each other which resulted in them both being shown a yellow card each. The last attack of the game came Tivvy's way when Lucas Vowles played in Joe Oloughlin who's shot was well saved by Lee in the Dorchester goal. Tiverton held on to earn a very well deserved three points.
