North Leigh 3 Tiverton 3 ( North Leigh won 5-3 on pens )

The first half was always going to be a up hill task for Tiverton and if you have ever been to North Leigh's ground then you will know what I mean but the task was made even steeper when after only two minutes Tivvy were 1-0 down when a looping header from North Leigh number nine Levi Steeple went over Lewis Williams and into the top corner of the net. Three minutes later and it was 2-0 to the home side. Two attacks and two goals. On fifteen minutes Tiverton had their first opportunity of the game when Matt Britton was fouled on the edge of the North Leigh box but the free kick was smashed into the home teams wall and cleared away. Tivvys first effort on goal saw Niall Thompson's shot easily saved by Adam North in the North Leigh goal. On twenty minutes Tiverton were awarded a penalty when Matt Buchan was brought down in the box. Up stepped Louis Morison to make it 2-1.Five minutes later and Tiverton thought they should have had another penalty but the referee waved away their appeals when it looked more of a penalty than the one he had just given. As the half went on Tiverton got into the game more and were awarded a second penalty when Niall Thompson was again brought down in the box. Up stepped Louis Morison and got his second and Tivvy's second to make it 2-2. With time running out in the first half Matt Buchan shot over the head of the advancing keeper but his shot was just wide of the goal and the half finished 2-2.
Tiverton got the second half underway and a early chance from a corner fell to Niall Thompson but his shot was well saved by the keeper. Next Thompson put Matt Buchan through on goal but again North in the home team goal was on hand to save the day. Tiverton were having more of the ball but it was North Leigh who scored next when Awadn made it 3-2. Tiverton made two changes as they tried to get back in the game when Lucas Vowles and Dylan Jones replaced Matt Buchan and Alfie Moulden. Louis Morison was then booked for a late challenge but minutes later Tiverton were Unbelievably awarded a third penalty and again Morison scored from the spot to make it 3-3 and the North Leigh defender was shown a red card for the foul.Tiverton were looking more like the team to score next but it all went wrong when Louis Morison was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge. So it was ten verses ten for the remaining minutes. The ref indicated that there would be five minutes of added on time but neither team could find a winner and the game went to a penalty shootout to decide who would progress to the next round of the cup. North Leigh went first and scored to make it 1-0.Tivvys designated penalty taker Morison was already off the pitch so first up for Tiverton was Niall Thompson but his penalty was well saved by North to give the home side the advantage. North Leigh scored their next penalty to make it 2-0. Lucas Vowles scored his spot kick to make it 2-1.
The home side then made it 3-1. Next up for Tiverton was Matt Britton who made it 3-2. It soon became 4-2 as North Leigh converted from the spot again.Joe Belsten made 4-3.
Lewis Williams in the Tiverton goal had to save the next penalty else it was all over for Tivvy but the North Leigh player sent him the wrong way and North Leigh won 5-3 on penalties and progressed to the next round of the cup.
