Tiverton Town got the game underway and started brightly first attempt after five minutes fell to Matt Britton but his shot went well over the bar.This was followed by Matt Buchan going one on one with Salisbury keeper Benfield but his shot went wide of the post and out for a goal kick. Next a Niall Thompson effort skimmed across the Salisbury box but went wide of the goal. Salisburys first real attack on ten minutes was stopped by a hand ball. The free kick was put into the Tivvy box and was finished off by Daniel Fitchett to put Salisbury 1-0 up. Seven minutes later it was 2-0 when a free kick on the edge of the Tiverton box was brilliantly converted by Antonio Diaz to put the visitors in control of the game despite Tivvy having more of the ball. On twenty five minutes Lewis Williams in the Tivvy goal had to tip the ball over the bar as Salisbury threatened to score again. It was hard to understand why Tiverton were behind but they went in at halftime two goals down.
Four minutes into the second half and Tiverton were 3-0 down. Tivvy made a change with Lucas Vowles replacing Louis Morison. Tiverton were still having more of the ball but not really troubling the visitors keeper. On sixty four minutes Diaz scored with a great header to make it 4-0. Tiverton made their final changes of the game with Matt Buchan and Craig Woodman being replaced by Toby Down and making his 1st team debut Tiverton under 18s player Jack Fanning. Tiverton finally started to play football and Alfie Moulden pulled one back to make it 4-1. They then went close to another when a Toby Down header went just wide of the goal. With time running out Tivvy scored again when the Salisbury keeper dropped the ball into his own net to make it 4-2. Salisbury were not any better than Tiverton but goals win games and that was the difference between the two sides. Final score
