Tiverton Town 2 Poole Town 1

Tiverton went into the clash with Poole Town with again several players not available due to injury and Suspension. This meant a full league debut for Tiverton Town Development Squad under 18s player Jack Fanning. While Poole came into the game unbeaten in their last five league games which has seen them climb to fourth in the Premier South table. The first five minutes was played in the Tivvy half as the visitors looked to take control of the game. Tivvy's  first real chance came on eleven minutes when a Joe Oloughlin cross was met by the head of Leighton Thomas but the strikers effort went just wide of the top corner of the Poole net. This was followed by another Tivvy move which ended with Lucas Vowles curling his shot towards the far post but Luke Cairney in the Poole goal managed to pluck it out of the air when it looked like finding the back of the net. Tiverton were starting to take control of the game and seeing more of the attacking play. There was then a off the ball incident which left a Tivvy defender on the ground which the ref felt was only worth a yellow card. Several fouls were being committed by both teams and the ref seemed to be happy to let it happen but he looked in danger of losing control of the game. Tiverton keeper Lewis Williams was then injured in a clash with the Poole forward which the Tivvy players felt was a foul on Williams and a squabble broke out which the ref had trouble keeping control of as both teams put their case forward. The game re started and a Tivvy attack was stopped by a foul ten yards out from the Poole box. The resulting free kick was floated into the Poole box where Jack Fanning was waiting to put Tiverton 1-0 up on his first  league start for the yellows. Poole looked for a quick reply and nearly found it but a great save from Williams denied them. In added on time in the first half Lewis Williams was again called on to pull off another great save to make sure Tiverton went in at halftime 1-0 up. Tiverton got the second half underway but it was the visitors who started the brightest and on fifty minutes Wesley Fogden leveled the score at 1-1. Tiverton were not to be put off and went looking to regain the lead but a Dylan Jones shot went wide of the target. A great cross field pass from Leighton Thomas found Niall Thompson who went on a run down the line and he cut into the Poole box and sent in a low shot across the six yard box that went narrowly wide of the far post. Both teams were creating chances as the game swung from end to end and on seventy seven minutes Lucas Vowles seemed to weave his way  through the whole of the Poole defence to cooly slot the ball home to put Tiverton 2-1 up. Tivvy nearly scored again when Lucas Vowles played in Ollie Mehew but his shot was well saved by Cairney in the Poole goal. The referee indicated that there would be four additional minutes at the end of normal time and a Poole corner was  met by their striker but a great stop from Tivvy keeper Lewis Williams kept them out. Time was running out for Poole and their goalkeeper had decided to become a extra striker and a goalmouth scramble saw Williams pull off another great save to secure the points for Tivvy.
