Winchester City 1 Tiverton Town 2

A cold and wet Charters Community Stadium was the venue for this Southern League Premier Division South tie between Winchester City and Tiverton Town. Winchester got the game underway but it was Tivvy who had a couple of early corners but they couldn't capitalise on them. On seven minutes a quick City break found Ik Hill but his shot was well saved by Lewis Williams in the Tivvy goal. The first ten minutes were very open and Ik Hill sent a long range effort towards the Tivvy goal which Lewis Williams turned around the post for a corner which was cleared up field to Dylan Jones who dribbled past several City defenders before shooting but his shot was well saved by Charlie  Philpott in the City goal. Winchester went close when a clearance from Lewis Williams hit  the City forward and rebounded just wide of the Tivvy goal. On twenty five minutes Lucas Vowles put the ball in the back of the City net only to see it ruled out for offside. Vowles then played in Niall Thompson but his shot was straight at the keeper. The heavy rain and wind was stopping the game from  flowing and the players were slipping all over the place. Lucas Vowles had another shot well saved and the ball rebounded to Niall Thompson who played in a low cross which found Ollie Mehew but again Philpott in the City goal was on hand to save the day for the home side. Both teams had a couple of half chances but the half ended 0-0.
Tiverton got the second half underway but the first chance of the second half came the way of Winchester but after a goalmouth scramble  the ball was cleared away up field. Tivvy's first chance of the second half fell to Ollie Mehew but again Philpott saved the day for the home side. There was a lot of petty fouls as both teams struggled to deal with the weather conditions. Lewis White went close for Tivvy with a header that went just wide of the far post. Winchester number seven Claudio Herbert was next to try and break the deadlock  but his shot went just  inches over the bar. Both teams made a double change with Matt Britton and Leighton Thomas replacing Louis Morison and Dylan Jones. Winchester broke and but for a great saving tackle from Josh Jones they would have taken the lead. Tiverton made their final change with Alfie Moulden replacing Ollie Mehew in a bid to win the three points. But it was the home side who scored on seventy nine minutes when a low cross into the Tivvy box was brilliantly finished off by Simbarashe Mlambo to put Winchester 1-0 up.
Their lead didn't last long  with four minutes left on the clock Matt Britton Rose head and shoulders above the Winchester defence to make it 1-1. Tiverton went all out for the win and as the game went into three minutes of added on time a great finish from Leighton Thomas put Tiverton 2-1 up. Tivvy held strong in the remaining minutes and picked up three valuable points on the road.
