Tavistock 4 Frome Town 3

Tavistock went into today's final game of the regular league season knowing a victory and other results going their way they could end the season in the final play off place. The same also applied to their opponents Frome Town so the game was set up for a nail bitting  end to the season and whatever the outcome Tavistock have had a great first season in the Southern League.
It was Frome who got the game underway but it was Tavistock who had the first effort on goal after only two minutes but Ed Harrison saw his shot easily saved by Kyle Phillips in the Frome goal but with twelve minutes gone it  was Frome who took the lead when Sam Meakes cooly finished into the far corner of the Tavistock net to put the visitors 1-0 up. Just three minutes later and Ed Harrison was allowed to run at the Frome defence and when he let fly from range there was no stopping it as it flew into the top corner to make it 1-1. With eighteen minutes played Harrison then turned provider when his cross found Tallan Burns who slotted the ball home to put Tavistock 2-1 up. Goal number three for the home side came on twenty three minutes when Liam Prynn nutmegged the Frome defender and fired past Phillips to put Tavistock 3-1 up. Three minutes later and a great strike from Frome number seven John Davies made the score 3-2 and it was game on with both teams really going for it in very tricky conditions. On thirty five minutes Tavistock thought they had scored again but Liam Prynn saw his effort ruled out for off side. Both teams continued give it their all but the half finished 3-2 in Tavistock's favour. With just a minute gone of the second half Frome had a goal ruled out for offside as they looked for a equaliser and on fifty nine minutes they found it when a corner found Alex Monks who headed Frome level at 3-3. With the rain continuing to fall and the pitch getting very heavy both teams continued to play some great attacking football. With just under twenty minutes to go a low drive across the Frome box by Alex Battle found the far corner of the net to put Tavistock 4-3 up. Chances continued to come for both teams but neither could add to the score in what was a great game of football. As it turned out results else where meant neither side could claim the final play off place but both played their part in a great game of football.
